Former Indian cricketer Anjum Chopra believes that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play crucial roles for the national team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Anjum Chopra highlighted Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s invaluable contributions to India across different formats.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma made their comeback to the Indian T20I squad during the recent series against Afghanistan in January, following a 14-month absence from the format. Their return raises the possibility of their inclusion in the team for the T20 World Cup.

India Will Require Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma – Anjum Chopra

Speaking to TOI, Anjum Chopra emphasized the importance of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma‘s return to the T20I squad for the World Cup. Chopra stressed that the presence of the duo significantly boosts team morale and is crucial for India’s success in the tournament.

“When you have quality players like Rohit and Virat, you just can’t question their ability and utilization. Their presence is enough to boost the team’s confidence. They are accomplished players. They are world-beaters. India will definitely require Virat and Rohit,” Chopra said.

Rohit Sharma led the Indian team in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The hosts showcased dominance in the league stage, remaining unbeaten before the final match. However, the Men in Blue suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final clash against Australia in Ahmedabad.

The potential return of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, alongside Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, adds intrigue to the team dynamics. The performances of players in the upcoming IPL season will likely play a significant role in finalizing the squad for the tournament.

Rohit Sharma To Lead Team India In T20 World Cup 2024

Speaking at an event in February, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed Rohit Sharma’s captaincy for the T20 World Cup 2024. Shah expressed confidence in Sharma’s leadership and added that India would strive to make the nation proud in the T20 World Cup.

“In 2023 (final) at Ahmedabad, even though we did not win the World Cup after 10 straight wins, we won hearts. India has been placed in Group A alongside the United States of America, Pakistan, Ireland, and Canada. The Indian team will kick off their campaign in the tournament by taking on the Ireland team at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 5.
