Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Prince Yadav revealed the exact advice that helped him dismiss former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Virat Kohli during the two teams' IPL 2026 fixture on May 7.
During the second over of RCB's chase, Yadav dismissed Kohli for a two-ball duck with a beautiful delivery that seamed in. It was Virat Kohli's first IPL duck in 46 matches. His early departure also meant that RCB were eventually unable to close out their chase of 213.
LSG snap six-match losing streak
Lucknow Super Giants have been practically eliminated from IPL 2026 after they went on a six-match losing streak. They had the perfect opportunity to play party-poopers against a fairly jubilant RCB, and took it with both hands.
On a wet Lucknow night with multiple rain interruptions, Mitchell Marsh compensated for Arshin Kulkarni's slow start with his second IPL century. Nicholas Pooran played his part at No. 3, but it was Rishabh Pant's unbeaten 32 in just 10 balls that pushed LSG to 209 in 19 overs.
DLS math determined RCB's target to be 213 runs in 19 overs. Mohammad Shami got rid of Jacob Bethell in the first over of the chase, and Kohli left in the second.
Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar put up a promising stand of 95, but were dismissed in quick succession. Prince Yadav returned to dismiss both Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma in the eleventh over, while Patidar fell to former RCBian Shahbaz Ahmed in the twelfth.
Tim David, Krunal Pandya, and Romario Shepherd tried their best, but could only muster a 9-run defeat for the defending champions.
"He himself told me this.." - Prince Yadav on hatching the plan to dismiss Virat Kohli
Speaking to the broadcasters after the match, Yadav said that he talked to the fellow Delhiite about his bowling plans during the reverse fixture in Bengaluru on April 15.
"That was exactly the plan. In fact, after the last match, I was speaking with Virat Bhaiya (elder brother) and he himself told me this... we talked a lot after that match and he was telling me that as long as the ball is moving off the length, you shouldn’t abandon your length. That is exactly what I did, and I got the result in the form of a wicket," he said.

Virat Kohli's form in IPL 2026
The latest duck notwithstanding, Virat Kohli enjoyed a decent run of form in IPL 2026. With 379 runs in 10 matches, he is still RCB's highest run-getter in this tournament.
Virat Kohli is also in the top 10 in the race for the Orange Cap, but barely. He has also made 3 fifties with a high score of 81 this year. Virat Kohli's runs have come at an average of 47 and a strike rate of 164.
Prince Yadav's form in IPL 2026
2026 is only Prince Yadav's second year in the IPL, but it is going considerably better than his first. Last year, he took 3 wickets in 6 matches with a bowling average of 75.
This year, with 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 18.68 and an economy of 8, Prince is third on the Purple Cap table. LSG were unable to move up from tenth place in the points table despite the win over RCB.
Prince also talked to the broadcasters about this contrast. "If I speak for myself, the season is good. But from the team's perspective, it’s a bit [tough] because we lost six matches in a row. But the efforts will continue, sir, definitely; we will try to put in a good effort in the remaining matches as well," he said.
