Indian captain Virat Kohli is undergoing one of the worst droughts in terms of international cricket. Though he has 70 international hundreds, his last ton came in 2019 when he scored a century against Bangladesh in the first-ever day-night Test match that India played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

His last ODI ton also came in the same year and since then, he has not scored any century, despite getting close many times. The year 2020, when cricket was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, was the first calendar year in which Virat Kohli didn’t score a single century since his India debut in 2008.

Somebody Who Has Scored 43 Hundred In This Format I Don’t Think Virat Kohli Will Be Worried Too Much Getting A Few More: Deep Dasgupta

Former India keeper Deep Dasgupta said that someone like Virat Kohli will not be much worried by the fact that it has been close to 500 days since he last scored a ton in international cricket.

“I don’t think so. Somebody who has scored 43 hundred in this format I don’t think he will be worried too much getting a few more. I thought the last game he looked like I thought he was going to get one,” Deep Dasgupta told Sports Today.

Kohli made a couple of unbeaten scores of 70s and one score of 80* in the T20I series against England and then scored 56 in the first ODI against the same opposition.

“The way he was batting, he totally dominated the bowling. Unfortunately, he picked out a fielder. And that was his favourite shot, whipping on his pads that’s his favourite shot. It’s just a matter of time, I won’t be too worried. As long as he is batting well, you know it’s around the corner. I won’t be surprised in the next couple of games he gets a hundred,” Deep Dasgupta said.

Virat Kohli has 27 Test tons in 91 matches and 43 centuries in 252 ODIs. In 90 T20Is, he is yet to score a century but has a high score of 94*. Kohli is just one century short of equaling Australia’s Ricky Ponting’s record of 71 international centuries.
