Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli is all set to make his comeback to the Ranji Trophy for Delhi after 13 years. Thanks to BCCI’s latest 10-point diktat, the former Indian captain made himself available for Delhi’s final group match against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, starting on January 30.

The dashing right-hander has already joined the Delhi cricket team and is having a great time with the youngsters at Kotla during the practice session. Notably, except for Navdeep Saini, none of the current Delhi cricketers have had the opportunity to share a dressing room with Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli encourages Delhi players to play with confidence

Even Delhi captain Ayush Badoni had just met Kohli during the IPL, and now the former Indian skipper is all set to play under his captaincy, and that would be a moment the youngster would cherish for life. Well, ahead of the Delhi vs. Railways Ranji Trophy 2024-25 Group D match, the Kotla ground turned into celebration mode for Kohli's return to first-class cricket.

Kohli has been working hard in training with the Delhi cricket team, focusing on improving his backfoot shots. He also shared some heartwarming moments with his childhood friend and teammates, and the videos and clips from Kotla are all over the internet.

During the training session, Kohli encouraged the Delhi players by saying, “Delhi waale ho, dum dikhao. Shuruat accha kiya phir thande padh gaye. Positive khelo jaise Delhiwaale khelte hain (You guys are from Delhi; show some attitude and play positively like Delhi players do).”

Virat Kohli will bat at No. 4 for Delhi: Ayush Badoni

Ahead of the highly anticipated Ranji clash, Delhi captain Ayush Badoni confirmed that Virat Kohli will bat at No. 4 in their match against Railways. Badoni also revealed that Kohli encouraged the Delhi team to stay positive and express themselves confidently against Railways.

Ayush Badoni was quoted as saying by PTI: “He will bat at No. 4. He has told us to be positive and express ourselves confidently. I have played against Virat bhaiyya in the IPL. It is an honor that in back-to-back matches I have now led Rishabh and Virat bhaiyya.”

Meanwhile, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Kumar Sharma expects a crowd of at least 10,000 on the first day of the match in Delhi. He also confirmed that the Gautam Gambhir Stand will be open for spectators. Kohli also revealed the fans only need their original Aadhaar card along with a photocopy to watch the match.

Fans need only an original copy of their Aadhaar card to watch Virat Kohli in action

Ashok Kumar Sharma was quoted as saying by the Indian Express: “The Gautam Gambhir Stand will be open for the spectators. The fans can enter from Gates No. 16 and 17. Gate No. 6 will also be open for the DDCA members and guests. We are expecting a 10,000 crowd for the first day.”

The DDCA secretary added, “It’s a free entry. The fans just need to bring their original copy of their Aadhaar card and its photocopy as well. The arrangements for the fans have been made. It will be like any international or IPL match.”
