Fast bowler Ishant Sharma hopes for Team India to lift the T20 World Cup 2024 title and end their decade-long ICC trophy drought that has been extended since 2013. In all these years, India have reached the knockouts on numerous occasions but have failed to lift the trophy.

India will now face England in the semi-finals like they did in the last edition as well. At that time, England thrashed India by 10 wickets to book their place in the final. They eventually went on to win the trophy as well.

The Men in Blue have been in tremendous form so far. They are the only unbeaten team in the competition along with South Africa. India topped both the group stage and the Super 8 stage to send warning signals to the opposition teams. The win in the last Super 8 game against Australia showed the amount of skill and depth they have in their line-up.

While speaking on a show called 'Caught and Bold' on Disney Hotstar, Ishant Sharma lauded the team for winning six games in the tournament so far. Ishant also praised Rohit Sharma for his stellar knock against Australia.

"The team's exceptional performance throughout the tournament has been commendable can be seen in us winning six games in a row. It was a stellar performance by the boys," Ishant Sharma said on the show.

"Rohit's knock of 92 off just 41 balls was a masterclass, he completely dismantled the Australian bowlers with other batters also giving him the required support. We perfectly executed our plans," the tall fast bowler added.

The 35-year-old quick also heaped praise on the team's fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah for their excellent contributions so far. He also lauded Rohit Sharma's captaincy and hoped for India to lift the title this year.

"Our bowlers bowled well with Arshdeep taking three important wickets including that of the dangerous David Warner. Along with batting, Rohit Sharma deserves to get plaudits for his brilliant captaincy against Australia for the trap he set up with Bumrah to get Travis Head out ending his onslaught and getting us over the line," Ishant said.

"It was enthralling to see India dominating Australia. Hopefully, we will continue the good form and clinch the ICC Men's T20 World Cup this year," he added.

Ishant Sharma last played an international match in India's home Test series against New Zealand in 2021. But since then, he has been out of the team. However, he played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 just before the T20 World Cup.
