India National Cricket Team modern-day batting great Virat Kohli's childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, has showered rich praise on the former all-format captain Rohit Sharma.

Rajkumar Sharma congratulated Rohit Sharma for smashing a stunning century at the Sydney Cricket Ground against the Australia National Cricket Team and praised his brilliant partnership with Virat Kohli.

India entered the Sydney ODI after losing the series on the back of defeats in Perth and Adelaide, and were aiming to avoid a whitewash. Kohli had a horrible time before the final ODI as he bagged consecutive ducks, while Rohit had hit a half-century in the second match

However, in the third ODI, both of them performed exceptionally well and stitched up a match-winning partnership to steer India to a dominant 9-wicket win.

Rohit Sharma scored 121* runs off 125 balls, with 13 fours and 3 sixes, and Kohli scored 74 runs off 81 balls, with 7 fours, as the duo added 168 runs together

Speaking on ANI after the match, Rajkumar Sharma said that Kohli and Rohit proved with their performances that they are absolute legends of Indian cricket. He said:

"Both of them played a wonderful innings and I would like to congratulate Rohit Sharma also for his brilliant century. It was an outstanding partnership, and both stalwarts showed yet again that they are great players and are legends of Indian cricket."

Kohli finished his Australia tour on a high, but had bagged consecutive ducks in the first two matches. Talking about this, Rajkumar Sharma said that a player of Kohli's caliber shouldn't be judged on a couple of innings. He said:

"With just two innings, you cannot say that Virat Kohli is out of form. His performance today has made him the world's second-highest run getter in ODIs. This shows his contribution to Indian cricket. He has scored 51 centuries. People love him a lot and want him to play as much as possible."

Australia National Cricket Team skipper Mitchell Marsh was a happy man after defeating the India National Cricket Team in the ODI series, but he also made sure to acknowledge the efforts of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He said:

"We have seen Rohit and Virat do that for the last 10 years for a lot of teams. We needed one more partnership towards the back end, awesome learning for our young guys. India were too good. A lot of learnings for us. India are the number one team in the world, so to get the job done in the first two games is something that we can be really proud of as a team and as we keep moving forward. I'm really proud of the whole team."
