Former Australia opener David Warner retired from international cricket earlier this year but remains active in global T20 leagues. The left-handed batter overtook Virat Kohli on the all-time T20 run-scorers list during the match between London Spirit and Manchester Originals in The Hundred tournament.
The southpaw is currently playing for the London Spirit in The Hundred in England. He has been in exceptional form, registering back-to-back half-centuries. The 38-year-old is the leading run-getter in the tournament with 150 runs in three games at an impressive average of 75.00 and a strike rate of 141.50.
David Warner Overtakes Virat Kohli in All-Time T20 Runs
David Warner, playing his 419th T20 match against Manchester Originals on August 11, surpassed Virat Kohli to become the fifth-highest run-scorer in T20 cricket. Warner beat Virat Kohli's milestone during his 71 runs off 51 balls, including 12 fours and a six at a strike rate above 139.
However, London Spirit fell short of the 164-run target at the Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. Apart from Warner, none of the other London batters crossed 20 runs. Earlier, Phil Salt (31 off 20), Ben McKinney (29 off 12), and Jos Buttler (46 off 37) chipped in with crucial runs for Manchester.
David Warner is Just 16 Runs Away from Overtaking Shoaib Malik
David Warner has scored 13,545 runs in 419 T20 matches, averaging 36.80 with a strike rate above 140, including eight centuries and 113 half-centuries. Virat Kohli has 13,543 runs from 414 matches, averaging 41.92 with a strike rate of 134.67, including nine centuries and 105 half-centuries.
Warner is just 16 runs away from overtaking Shoaib Malik for fourth place on the list. Chris Gayle leads the chart with 14,562 runs at an average of 36.22 and a strike rate of 144.75, including 22 centuries and 88 fifties. Kieron Pollard and Alex Hales are at the second and third spots, respectively.

Manchester Originals Secure First Win as London Spirit Falter in Run Chase
Talking about the match, Jos Buttler led Manchester Originals with 46 off 37 balls. Openers Phil Salt and Ben McKinney provided a flying start with 47 runs off 21 balls.
In contrast, London Spirit struggled early as David Warner and Kane Williamson (19 off 20) found it hard to settle. Warner was kept under pressure by fast bowler Sonny Baker and was dismissed by Josh Tongue.
After Warner’s dismissal, the Spirit needed 38 runs from 14 balls but lost the match. Ashton Turner added 13 off 7, but it wasn’t enough to prevent London Spirit from suffering their second loss in three games, while Manchester Originals recorded their first win of the season.
