Virender Sehwag Feels Head Coach Rahul Dravid Will Shift Focus Towards Winning ICC Trophies

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has reckoned that the new Indian head coach Rahul Dravid will be focussing more on winning ICC trophies which have been a search hunt for a long time now. India last won an ICC trophy in 2013, and since then, the campaign in ICC tournaments hasn’t been great for India.
‘They have come close two times in 2014 with the ICC T20 World cup finals against Sri Lanka and in the 2017 Champions Trophy finals against Pakistan, but both the games ended in the opponent’s favour. With India almost on the verge of being knocked out of the T20 World cup 2021 now, the onus will next be on Rahul Dravid to win trophies for India.
Virender Sehwag Delighted About Development Of Indian Cricket
Virender Sehwag mentioned that he is very excited about Rahul Dravid being appointed as the next Indian head coach and was very much sure about the Indian cricket development going in the right way. He added that Dravid will focus a lot more on winning ICC trophies for India.
“I can say one thing for sure, I’m very happy with this development in Indian cricket. I think there will be more stability after Rahul Dravid’s appointment as the head coach. He will focus on process and also on how the chances of India winning ICC trophies go up,” Virender Sehwag Replied to a fan query on his Facebook Watch show Virugiri Dot Com.
Virender Sehwag Believes Rahul Dravid Will Increase, The Confidence In Players
In recent times, the Indian management has been accused of changing their players quite often without giving ample opportunities, and Virender Sehwag reckoned Dravid will definitely add a lot more stability. He added that Dravid will instil the confidence needed in the players to keep performing as well.
He will prepare the team well. Rahul will give confidence and stability to players. So I think Rahul Dravid will bring in all these traits,” he added.
Rahul Dravid’s assignment with the Indian team will start in the home series against New Zealand.
