Rahul Tewatia was once again at his swashbuckling best during the encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore as he smashed three sixes during his knock of 12-ball 24 to help Rajasthan Royals post a competitive 6-154 in 20 overs.
Tewatia had come to bat after Rajasthan Royals had lost their first five wickets for 105. It soon became 6-114 after Mahipal Larmor, who played a brilliant knock of 39-ball 47 fell to Yuzvendra Chahal in the 17th over.
Tewatia smashed all his three sixes against Navdeep Saini, the first of which came in the 18th over as he short-arm jabbed the fast bowler for a maximum at deep square-leg. The southpaw was surprised with fast beemer on the very first ball of the last over by Saini but he came back brilliantly to smash the fast bowler for two more sixes to take his tally of six-hitting to seven in the death-over phase [16-20]- the second-best after Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard.
Jofra Archer too continued his power-hitting, smashing a handy 10-ball 16- an innings which included one four and a six. Archer and Rahul Tewatia accumulated 40 runs in just 20 balls to lift Rajasthan Royals from a precarious state and ensure that they have a competitive total to defend.
Virender Sehwag was once again impressed with Rahul Tewatia’s six-hitting. And, the former swashbuckler took to Twitter to praise the Rajasthan Royals all-rounder in his own style-
Not just Sharjah, he can hit them in Abu Dhabi as well. Tewatia after 3 sixes today : Tabaadlon se ilaake badalte hain, Iraade nahin,” Virender Sehwag wrote.
