Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that Yashasvi Jaiswal is capable of breaking legendary batsman Virender Sehwag’s record of 300 in Test cricket. Kaif stated Jaiswal has the ability to score quickly while steering India toward victories and predicted that the young opener will surpass Sehwag’s milestone.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a standout performer for Team India in Test cricket. The 23-year-old batter has scored more than 2,200 runs in just 25 Tests since his debut in the West Indies two years ago. He has notched seven centuries and 12 half-centuries, with five of those centuries surpassing 150 runs.
Virender Sehwag Ka 300 Wala Record, Yashasvi Jaiswal hi todega - Mohammad Kaif
Following Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175 in the second Test against the West Indies, Mohammad Kaif expressed confidence that the young opener could break Virender Sehwag’s record.
Kaif stated that Jaiswal has a mix of patience and aggressive strokeplay. He noted that Jaiswal's performances are comparable to legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Kaif added that Jaiswal is the ideal candidate to surpass Virender Sehwag’s highest individual score of 319.
"Yashasvi Jaiswal is a batsman with the patience to score big hundreds and set new marks. In his first 26 matches, his numbers are as good as Sachin's and Virat's. Scoring at a high strike rate, his hundreds mostly put India on the path to victory. Sehwag ka 300 wala record, Jaiswal hi todega," Mohammad Kaif posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Yashasvi Jaiswal Is Just Getting Better and Better Day By Day - Anil Kumble
Former India spinner Anil Kumble praised Yashasvi Jaiswal for his consistent growth and determination. Kumble stated that the young batter makes his time at the crease count, showcasing maturity and skill despite a relatively short career.
“Jaiswal is just getting better and better day by day. We've spoken about his hunger and his attitude towards building big innings, not just for himself but for the team. Even in the previous game, he got off to a good start but was dismissed early, so he's certainly made up for that here,” Kumble said.
“Throughout his short career, he has shown that he doesn't waste opportunities like these. Once he's in, he makes it count, and that's wonderful to see."
Yashasvi Jaiswal Fails to Convert Knock into a Double Century After a Mix-Up with Shubman Gill
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 173 runs on the opening day of the ongoing match. However, he failed to convert his knock into a double century on Day 2 after a mix-up with skipper Shubman Gill.
The left-handed batter began the morning with a couple of singles and then attempted a risky quick run after pushing a full delivery to mid-off, expecting Gill to respond.
However, Gill refused the call, but Jaiswal had already sprinted halfway down the pitch. The fielder threw toward the striker’s end, and wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach dislodged the bails. Although Imlach fumbled the ball, a faint contact with the gloves during the dislodging made the dismissal valid.
Jaiswal was visibly frustrated with his dismissal. He appeared to exchange tense words with Gill before walking back to the dressing room.
