The former Pakistan captain and legendary pacer Wasim Akram made a stunning remark on his former teammate Ramiz Raja. Recently, the former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman said that if things were in his hands, he would have banned Akram forever for being named in the Justice Qayyum report on match-fixing.

Several Pakistani cricketers, including Akram, were investigated by Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum for match-fixing during various matches in the 1990s. The 56-year-old escaped serious punishment due to a lack of evidence. Saleem Malik and a right-arm pacer, Ata-ur-Rehman, received life bans after the match-fixing controversy.

I Don’t Want To Discuss This – Wasim Akram

Ramiz Raza was sacked from his role as chairman of the PCB last month and replaced by Najam Sethi. When asked about about the the changes in PCB, Wasim Akram responded, Who? as soon as the interviewer mentioned Raja’s name.

“There was a change in the Pakistani board. You talked about Najam Sethi; Ramiz Raja was removed…” the interviewer said before Akram interrupted him.

“Who?” asked Akram.

“How would you rate Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman?” the reporter continued.

To this, Akram came up with a savage reply. He said, “Look, I don’t want to discuss this. Because vo 6 din ke liye aaya tha, ab vo vaapis aa gaya hai apni jagah pe (he came here for six days, now he’s back to where he belongs).”

No Concept That Only Cricketers Should Be PCB Chairman – Wasim Akram

The left-arm bowler highlighted that there are no criteria that only cricketers serve as board chairman and claimed that Najam Sethi is the best candidate for the position given to his experience.

“Najam Sethi has experience, and it’s no concept that only cricketers should be PCB chairman. You need to be a good administrator, and you also need to be a good communicator and build a good reputation with other boards. Najam Sethi sahab is the best in that. People can disagree for all I care. It’s my opinion,” he added.
