India Played Their Best Cricket: Brian Lara
While speaking to ANI, former West Indies captain Brian Lara said that Team India played their best cricket in the World Cup.
“I won’t say they are struggling. They played their best cricket in the World Cup. I think what we experience is how powerful what we perceive to be failure is – which is the Australians losing a couple of matches, understanding where they had to play, and where they have to improve”, he said.
Brian Lara also added that he wanted to see India lift the trophy. He hopes the team will grab the title next time.
“India – everything is going in their direction and obviously they just had to play their best cricket to come out on top. But sometimes, you come up short on one occasion and against a team like Australia, you can’t let them in. I think it was a great final. Unfortunately, our team didn’t win. I too supported India and wanted to see them raise the trophy. But hopefully next time,” he further said.
Australia outplayed India by a better bowling and batting show in the final. Opting to bowl first, they restricted India to 240 in 1st innings. Later, they chased down the target by 6 wickets with a century by Travis Head. It came as a big shock for many Indian fans after the team’s dominance in the rest of the games during the tournament.
