Team India cricketers Harshit Rana and Washington Sundar gave fans a moment of laughter during the third and final ODI against Australia. Rana and Sundar failed to stop a boundary off left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling, but the video of their attempt grabbed attention on social media.
India skipper Shubman Gill lost the toss for the third consecutive time in the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney on Saturday, October 25. The visitors made two changes to their lineup, with Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav replacing Nitish Kumar Reddy and Arshdeep Singh for the dead rubber.

Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana collided while attempting to stop a ball from the boundary. The incident took place on the second ball of the 17th over in Australia’s innings.
Sundar slid near the ropes from deep midwicket, while Rana approached from deep backward square leg. The two players bumped into each other, leaving Sundar near the boundary with the ball brushing against his body.
The TV umpire reviewed the incident to determine if the ball or any fielder had touched the rope. Despite their efforts, the ball went over the boundary line, and four runs were awarded.

Washington Sundar Dismisses Matthew Short, Virat Kohli Takes Sharp Catch
Harshit Rana shared the new ball with Mohammed Siraj in the absence of Arshdeep Singh. The KKR fast bowler failed to pick up any wicket in his first spell, conceding 21 runs in his four overs. He had taken two wickets in the first two games at an average of 53.50 and an economy rate of 6.69.
Meanwhile, Washington Sundar dismissed Matthew Short, who scored 30 runs off 41 balls. Virat Kohli took a sharp catch to send the Australia No. 3 back to the dressing room. Sundar has claimed four wickets so far in the series at an average of just over 15.
Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj Strike to Help India Remove Australia’s Openers
Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel dismissed Australia’s openers Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh in the third ODI. Siraj provided the first breakthrough by removing Travis Head for 29, while Axar dismissed Mitchell Marsh, helping India gain an early advantage.
At the point of writing, Australia were 124/3 after 23 overs, with Matt Renshaw and Alex Carey at the crease. The visitors already trail 2-0 in the three-match series, having lost the first two ODIs by seven wickets (DLS method) and two wickets.
Australia are seeking their second consecutive home series win over India since their 2-1 triumph in 2020/21. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill is still seeking his first ODI victory as India’s new captain, having taken over from Rohit Sharma earlier in the series.
