The Asia Cup 2025 is not just another cricket tournament. The continental tournament is once again carrying the weight of history, politics, and emotions that will be on full display during the India vs Pakistan clash on September 19 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

However, there is already a lot of buzz over the scheduled India vs Pakistan match, and Wasim Akram has shared his views on the clash. Many Indian politicians and former cricketers have been demanding the boycott of the matches with the Men in Blue in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack earlier this year.

But the BCCI kept its lips tight about the noise despite Operation Sindoor still being underway, hinting that the big-ticket India vs Pakistan clash will go as planned in Dubai on September 19. Now, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has added fuel to the already heated discussions.

The legendary fast bowler has made it clear that Pakistan is ready for any call India will take, and they won’t lose sleep over politics. Akram said that Pakistan won’t mind even if India refuses to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, but stressed that the “game must go on.”

Wasim Akram said on the ‘Stick With Cricket Podcast’: “So, the Asia Cup, the schedule has been announced. Let's see what happens. We're probably getting a backlash, but in Pakistan, we are okay. We are actually calm. We are fine if we play or if we don't play. The game must go on.”

Wasim Akram dreams of watching the iconic India vs Pakistan Test series

The former Pakistan captain stunned the cricket world by expressing his hope to witness an India–Pakistan Test series in his lifetime. India and Pakistan have been playing in ODIs and T20Is in the ICC events, but Test cricket seems a dream due to political tensions between the two nations.

But Akram believes that the game is bigger than politics, and it is about celebrating cricket, celebrating victories with pride, and respecting the rival without crossing the line. He further explained on the podcast, “I hope to see a Test series between India and Pakistan in my lifetime. But I think Indians will probably take a different take on it.”

The legendary bowler Wasim Akram signed off by saying, “But in my opinion, politics apart, we are not politicians; I'm not a politician. They are patriotic about their country; we are patriotic about ours. Let's not go below the belt. Talk about the triumphs of your country; the same goes for Pakistan, and the same goes for India. It is easier said than done.”
