In an unbelievable display of power-hitting, Salman Nizar has etched his name into the record books with his blistering performance in the ongoing Kerala Cricket League 2025 (KCL 2025) game between Calicut and Trivandrum at the Greenfield Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

In a finish that left fans and opponents stunned, Salman Nizar smashed 11 sixes in the last two overs, including six sixes off six legal deliveries in the final over, to take his team, Calicut Globstars, from a modest total to an awe-inspiring 186/6 on the board against Trivandrum Royals.

Salman Nizar scores 31 runs in 19th over and 40 runs in final over in the Kerala Cricket League 2025

The drama unfolded in the last two overs of the innings, with Globstars struggling at 115/6 after 18 overs. At that point, it seemed the Calicut side would have to settle for a subpar total, especially given the quality of the Trivandrum Royals’ bowling attack.

But Nizar had other plans. In the 19th over, bowled by senior pacer Basil Thampi, Nizar turned on his beast mode and smashed 31 runs off just six balls. He hit five sixes in a row, leaving Thampi and the Trivandrum fielders in complete shock in Thiruvananthapuram.

The penultimate over also looked like a practice session for Nizar. The final over of Calicut’s innings was even more extraordinary. Nizar smashed six sixes against Abijith Praveen, amassing a staggering 40 runs in the final over, which included a wide and one no-ball.

Salman hits 11 sixes in the last 12 balls

By the end of the innings, Salman Nizar had hit 12 sixes in total and turned a tense finish into sheer carnage. He reached his fifty in just 20 balls off the first delivery of the last over and finished unbeaten on 86 off just 26 balls at a blistering strike rate of 330.76.

Notably, Nizar got a chance to showcase his skills in trials with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the joint most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), earlier this year. Despite impressing in the trials, he was not offered a contract by the five-time champions in the IPL 2025.

Salman Nizar’s explosive knock sets a new KCL record

His brutal onslaught helped Calicut Globstars score 71 runs in the final two overs, setting a new Kerala Cricket League record for the most runs scored in the last two overs of a T20 game. Nizar’s entertaining innings is one of the finest T20 knocks ever played by an Indian batter.

Nizar’s performance was crucial for his team’s campaign. Calicut, who had an inconsistent season, desperately needs to win this KCL 2025 match to make it to the top two of the points table. On the other hand, the defeat will leave the Trivandrum Royals in a precarious position, as they are already sitting at the bottom of the points table with just one win from six matches.
