Nitish Reddy, on Wednesday (October 9), announced his arrival in international cricket in style by smashing a whirlwind fifty in the ongoing second India vs Bangladesh T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The youngster earned his maiden India call-up for the ongoing three-match T20I series after impressing in this year's Indian Premier League. He made his debut in the first T20I. In his first-ever game for Team India, Nitish Reddy bowled two overs but could not pick up any wickets before scoring an unbeaten 16 runs.

On Wednesday (October 9), he showed the world why he is being rated so highly by everyone. The youngster played a sensational knock for the Men in Blue. What makes his knock even more impressive is that it came under huge pressure.

The right-handed batsman had to walk out to bat in the powerplay after India lost both of their openers inside the first three overs. Even before the powerplay ended, India lost the huge wicket of their captain Suryakumar Yadav as well.

The onus was on Nitish Reddy and his new partner Rinku Singh to bail the team out of trouble and the youngsters did not disappoint. They shared a big stand of 108 runs for the fourth wicket to put India in the driver's seat.

Reddy started his innings cautiously and was batting on 12 off 11 overs at the end of the 8th over. He shifted gears in the 9th over after hitting a free-hit from Mahmudullah for a six. In the tenth over, the 21-year-old smashed two more sixes to get into his groove.

He went on to complete his fifty in just 26 balls. He also became the fourth youngest Indian to score a T20I half-century after Rohit Sharma (20y 143d), Tilak Varma (20y, 271d) and Rishabh Pant (21y, 38d). Reddy eventually departed for 74 runs in the 14th over. His knock came off just 34 balls and was studded with 4 fours and 7 sixes.

The highlight of Nitish Reddy's whirlwind knock was the 13th over when he took Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz to the cleaners. Thanks to Reddy's explosive batting, India collected as many as 26 runs from that over. 24 of those runs were scored by Reddy.

On the first ball of the over, Rinku took a single to give the strike to his partner. It was followed by a six and a four before Reddy took a double on the fourth ball. On the fifth ball of the over, Reddy hit another six to complete the 100-run partnership. Mehidy then bowled a wide before being hit for another six.
