The legendary Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni entertained the spectators with his power-hitting on Friday, March 28, as he decimated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya.

The 8th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) was held between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.

MS Dhoni bats at No.9 vs RCB

Chennai Super Kings bowlers failed to do well in the match and they were given a huge target of 197 runs to chase by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

While chasing, they started poorly, and as the innings progressed, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Fans on the ground, however, got excited as the chances of MS Dhoni coming to the crease early increased.

Dhoni usually comes to bat below Ravindra Jadeja, and with the number of all-rounders in the CSK line-up, it was expected that he would come to bat at No.8, but that didn't happen.

Shockingly, Ravichandran Ashwin came to bat at No.8 and MS Dhoni walked in at the No.9 spot. It was only the second time in 344 T20 innings in his career that Dhoni walked in at No. 9. This decision baffled many cricket experts and fans, and they thrashed the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman.

When he arrived in the middle, the match was already out of CSK's hands, and he didn't try to go berserk from the ball one. MS Dhoni took his time to settle down and his best came in the final over when CSK had already lost.

Krunal Pandya, who was bowling the last over, bowled a full ball first and then followed it up with an arrogant bouncer. This seemed to have charged MS Dhoni up as he smashed a huge six on the third as well as on the fourth ball of the over. Then, Dhoni misjudged and played a dot before hitting a four in the over.

Dhoni finished with an innings of 30 runs off 16 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Although his score didn't help CSK win, it did help him become the leading run-getter for CSK in IPL history (4689), surpassing Suresh Raina (4687 runs).

As a group we were outstanding - Josh Hazlewood delighted after crushing CSK

After Royal Challengers Bengaluru's dominant 50-run victory over the Chennai Super Kings, the RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood said that he feels quite fresh and as a team, they were outstanding in the match.

Josh Hazlewood opined that they have made good use of the conditions in the IPL 2025 so far and have put up a great display on the field. He also showered rich praise on Yash Dayal for playing a key role in his team's victory

"It (the ball is coming out nicely) is. I am nice and fresh. As a group we were outstanding. We used the conditions nicely against KKR and did the same tonight. With this wicket it was a little bit up and down, two-paced and we tried to hit that in between length," he said.

"The energy is always great at RCB and it has led into the fielding group, it really lifts us. Any time you get injured you feel down, but I used it wisely, doing fitness and being fresh. Having a left-armer (Yash Dayal) is crucial and we see that with every team, he has a good change of pace and is a class act," he added.
