Akash Deep was bowled by a brilliant off-spinning delivery by Glenn Phillips during the second innings of the Mumbai Test between India and New Zealand. Facing his first ball of the innings, Akash had no idea about the ball and was left bamboozled.
During the 29th over of the innings, Glenn Phillips bowled a flighted delivery outside off stump to the right-hander. The ball drifted away in the air which made Akash Deep come forward to defend the ball.
However, the tailender left a huge gap between bat and pad and the ball turned in sharply to crash into his stumps to leave them shattered. Akash Deep had no idea how that happened and was left stunned for some seconds before going back to the dressing room.

Akash Deep was dismissed for a golden duck. India needed him to stay around to support Washington Sundar but he was outdone by some brilliant bowling from Glenn Phillips.
With the ball, Akash Deep picked up two wickets in the match in his short bowling spells with the new ball. With the pitch supporting spin, he wasn't required to bowl much, especially with the old ball.
Glenn Phillips' brilliant spell with the ball
It was the ninth wicket to fall in India's innings. A ball before this dismissal, Phillips had scalped the wicket of Ravichandran Ashwin to land a huge blow on India's hopes of winning the match.
Ashwin was brilliantly caught behind by the wicketkeeper Tom Blundell. Wickets off two successive balls put Glenn Phillips on a hat-trick. But the No. 11 Mohammed Siraj negotiated the hat-trick ball well to deny Phillips.
Akash Deep's wicket was Phillips' third of the innings. The offspinning allrounder bowled a prolonged spell with the left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel and knocked India out of the match.
While Ajaz was the main wicket-taker, Phillips created the pressure from the other end and made full use of the spin-friendly conditions on offer. The offspinner finished with 3-42 in 12 overs while Ajaz Patel picked up a six-wicket haul in the second innings.
Glenn Phillips played crucial cameos throughout the series with the bat as well. In the second innings of Mumbai Test, he scored a quickfire 26 off 14 balls which proved to be the difference in the end.
Ajaz Patel leads New Zealand to historic clean-sweep
Ajaz also picked up the last wicket of Indian innings as he shattered the stumps of Washington Sundar to lead New Zealand to a historic win. Patel finished with 6-57 in this innings which was followed up by a brilliant five-wicket haul in the first inings.
Meanwhile, New Zealand achieved something that no Test team has done before. They became the first ever team to win a series of three or more Tests in India. It was a memorable moment in their cricket history and something that this group will remember for a long time.
