Fast bowler Akash Deep was on fire on the first day of the Duleep Trophy 2024. While bowling his 12th over of the match, the Bengal quick bowled a peach of a ball to dismiss Nitish Kumar Reddy for a golden duck.
Akash Deep had just taken the big wicket of Rishabh Pant in the previous ball. Playing his first ball of the match, Nitish Kumar Reddy was visibly nervous and could not handle a perfect ball from the fast Akash Deep.
It was a length delivery that pitched on off stump and just straightened enough to beat the batter's outside edge.
The ball went on to hit the top of the stumps as Nitish Kumar Reddy had no idea about the seam movement. The all-rounder was unlucky to receive such a great ball first up.

Brilliant spell by Akash Deep after lunch
Akash Deep had a brilliant day with the ball as he rattled India B batting line-up. The 27-year-old fast bowler also picked up the big wicket of Rishabh Pant when the left-hander tried to play a big shot off his bowling.
Notably, Pant is playing his first red-ball match after his life threatening accident in December 2022. He has been selected in this series to have some match practice before India's Test series at home against Bangladesh. At the time of writing, Akash Deep had picked up 2 wickets for 19 runs in 14 overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan struggle for timing
Earlier, India A won the toss and elected to field first. India B started cautiously with Yashasvi Jaiswal biding his time to score runs. However, the left-hander had a soft dismissal and was out for 30. It was an uncharacteristic innings from Jaiswal who is usually a free-flowing batter but struggled to find timing during this innings.
India B were nicely poised till lunch but lost the plot in the second session. Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for just 9 runs and Rishabh Pant also did not troubled the scorers. Akash Deep also effected the wicket of Washington Sundar through a run out.
Akash has played one Test match in his career so far, which was during the Test series against England earlier this year. The right-arm fast bowler had a fantastic match and bowled a brilliant spell with the new ball to dismantle England's top order.
The match was played at Ranchi and Akash Deep picked up the big wickets of Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope. All of his wickets were bowled, lbw, or taken behind the wicket which shows the skills that he possessed during his debut Test match.
