Virat Kohli, on Friday (May 23), had a rare failure with the bat after getting a good start during the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
With SRH posting a daunting total of 232 runs, RCB needed a quick start with the bat, and Virat Kohli took the onus on himself to lead his team's charge with the bat. The former RCB skipper made his intentions clear by hitting the very first ball he faced in the match for a four.
It was the second ball of the innings from SRH captain Pat Cummins, and Virat Kohli slashed the ball over backward point for a four. In the second over, he hit Jaydev Unadkat for a four as well before hitting Cummins for two more fours in the third over.
There was no respite for Harshal Patel either, as Virat Kohli hit his former RCB teammate for two fours as well. The right-handed batsman hit another four in the fifth over as RCB reached the 50-run mark in just 4.4 overs.
In the final over of the powerplay, Virat Kohli hit his first six of the innings, smashing Eshan Malinga's delivery over deep mid-wicket for a maximum. By the time the powerplay came to an end, RCB had raced away to 72 runs for no loss with Kohli scoring 42 of those runs in just 22 balls.

However, the former India captain could not convert his start into a big score as he was dismissed by Harsh Dubey in the 7th over. Kohli made room for himself as he went for a cut shot through the off-side but ended up miscuing the ball straight to Abhishek Sharma at backward point.
Kohli looked absolutely dejected after the soft dismissal. And as soon as he was dismissed, the cameras turned towards the stands, where his wife Anushka Sharma's reaction said it all. The Bollywood actress looked in utter disbelief at the dismissal.

Talking about the game, RCB were on 111/1 in the 10th over at the time of writing this report. Phil Salt was batting on 49 while Mayank Agarwal was unbeaten on 9. Earlier in the game, Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 95-run knock helped SRH post a big total of 231/6.
