Australia National Cricket Team finally had their hands on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as they beat India National Cricket Team by 6 wickets in the fifth match of the series. They were impressive with the bat and ball at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney, where the last match took place, and booked their place in the ICC WTC Final.
The win in the last match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 meant that the Australia National Cricket Team won the series by the margin of 3-1. The Pat Cummins-led side outclassed the India National Cricket Team on most of the occasions in the series and won the Trophy for the first time after 2014-15.

Australia National Cricket Team didn't have a great start to the series as they lost the opening match at Optus Stadium in Perth by a massive margin. However, after that, they made a strong comeback in Adelaide and won the match by 10 wickets. The third match ended in a draw before the hosts brought their best.
The Pat Cummins-led side were right on the money at Melbourne Cricket Ground, where they took command of the series as they won the match by 184 runs. It was then the final showdown in Sydney, where they completed a sensational 6-wicket win to claim the series.
India opted to bat first and in what were difficult conditions to bat, they got all out for just 185 runs. Rishabh Pant (40) was the leading run-getter for the team, while the late blitz from captain Jasprit Bumrah (22) made sure that they had a fighting total on the board.
With the ball, India were at their fiery best as they bowled terrific lines and lengths and troubled the Australia National Cricket Team batters right from the start. The likes of Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Nitish Kumar Reddy were amongst the wickets as they bundled out the hosts for 181, taking a lead of 4 runs.

In the second innings, India came up with a positive effort with the bat as they looked to score runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (22) and KL Rahul (13) gave the Team a solid start, but after that, they lost quick wickets and came under pressure. However, it was Rishabh Pant, who bailed the team out of trouble.
The keeper-batter slammed a brutal half-century and ended with the innings of quick-fire 63 runs. However, apart from him, no other batter could get going as Australia National Cricket Team bundled out India for just 157 runs, setting themselves a target of 162 runs to chase.
India was without Jasprit Bumrah in the second innings, and it surely cost them. Australia had a solid start to the chase with Sam Konstas (22) and Usman Khawaja (41) adding 39 runs for the opening partnership.
India made a slight comeback with quick wickets but Travis Head (34*) and Beau Webster (39*) joined hands together and took their team home to win the game by six wickets and bag the series by 3-1.
As Beau Webster hit the winnings, the Australia dressing room was chuffed to bits. The likes of Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Marnus Labuschagne, and other players were extremely elated as they celebrated aggressively.
