Glenn Maxwell was hit by Jimmy Neesham’s throw during the second One-Day International between Australia and New Zealand, which was contested at Cairns’ Cazaly’s Stadium.
Australia won the first one-day international by two wickets with five overs to spare. The Kiwis are primed to make a comeback in the second ODI, barely a day after their defeat.
Australia lost eight wickets to New Zealand in the second one-day international as Steve Smith was dismissed for 61. After Australia was once 54/5, Smith and Glenn Maxwell embarked on a 49-run partnership. However, the latter continued to fire over Trent Boult, and Martin Guptill made a wonderful diving catch. Then, as New Zealand tried to end the innings, Sean Abbott and Smith both fell quickly.
David Warner went out for five runs shortly after Australia’s captain Aaron Finch was dismissed for a duck in the second over. Both of the openers were eliminated by Matt Henry. The hosts were left reeling as Boult took over the wicket-taking responsibilities, trapping both Marnus Labuschagne and Marcus Stoinis LBW to leave the hosts reeling at 26/4.
