A bizarre incident took place during the third NZ vs PAK T20I in Dunedin on Wednesday (January 17). The incident happened when Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan came out to bat.
The right-handed batsman has been plying his trade as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the ongoing series while regular wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan has played as a specialist batsman so far. Azam Khan has not managed to grab the opportunity so far. In the first two games against New Zealand, he registered scores 10 and 2 and his poor form continued in the third game as well as he was dismissed for only 10.
However, more than his batting, Azam Khan’s entrance onto the field became the focal point, thanks to the DJ’s choice of song. The DJ chose to play the theme song of WWE icon The Big Show as Azam Khan entered the field. For those unfamiliar, The Big Show was renowned for its colossal physical presence.
The video of the incident went viral in no time. While some fans praised the DJ for the jovial and light-hearted action, few also slammed him for the same and urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to file a complaint. In the past, Azam Khan has been ridiculed for his weight.

Pathetic from the hosts to play The Big Show's entrance music when Azam Khan came out to bat. @TheRealPCB should take it up with @BLACKCAPS 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 #NZvsPAK pic.twitter.com/sT2mxV7fog

Azam Khan flops as Pakistan lose match and series:
Azam Khan failed to impress in international cricket once again as Pakistan suffered a 45-run defeat in the must-win clash. After losing the first two games, the Men in Green needed to win the third game at any cost to keep the five-match series alive. However, they once again failed to come up with a match-winning performance.
Asked to bat first, New Zealand piled up a huge total of 224/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Opening batsman Finn Allen starred with the bat as he smashed a 48-ball ton. He went on to score 137 runs off just 62 balls with the help of 5 fours and 16 sixes.
In reply, Pakistan never really looked into contestation to chase down the huge total. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and as a result, their innings never really got the impetus. In the end, the visitors finished their innings on 179/7 with Babar Azam’s 58 being the top score.
