A Bangladesh fan had to be admitted to the hospital after being assaulted by Indian fans on the opening day of the ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test at the Green Park in Kanpur.
Before the start of the series, there were calls from several quarters to boycott it. The reason behind the boycott calls was the political turmoil in Bangladesh where minority Hindus faced attacks from Muslim extremists. Social media was filled with posts of Hindus facing political violence in Bangladesh.
While the first Test in Chennai took place without any issue, the second Test in Kanpur is definitely under threat. Several Hindu organizations have threatened to disrupt the ongoing Test. Organisations such as Hindu Mahasabha and Janajagriti Samiti had demanded the cancellation of the match.
While no issue has been faced by the teams or BCCI so far, one Bangladesh fan had to face an unfortunate incident in Kanpur. According to reports, the individual is Bangladesh super fan Robi. He faced the assault while watching the game on day one.
Robi was wearing his usual Tiger attire and waving the Bangladesh flag before being assaulted. As per reports, the miscreants first snatched the Bangladesh flag from his hand before assaulting him. The police were quick to intervene and brought the situation under control. The police and the local authorities also took Robi to a nearby hospital after he suffered an injury.

This is not the first time that a Bangladesh fan has faced such an incident in India. A similar incident took place last year as well when India and Bangladesh faced each other in Pune during the ODI World Cup. Bangladesh's super fan Shoaib Ali was harassed by a few fans in the stands. The miscreants had also ripped apart his beloved stuffed tiger toy.
Bangladesh make a steady start:
Bangladesh have made a steady start in the ongoing Test. The visitors were on 78 for 2 after 28 overs at the time of writing this report. Akash Deep sent back both the Bangladesh openers before Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto steadied the ship.
India are currently leading the two-match series after winning the first Test in Kanpur. After the Test series, both the teams will face each other in a three-match T20I series.
