Watch- Bee Swarm Forces Sri Lanka And West Indies Players To Take Cover During The Third ODI

On Sunday, a bizarre incident took place when West Indies took on Sri Lanka in the third ODI of the series. There are many times when a cricket match has to be stopped and usually it’s due to some intervention or interruption from the crowd or some injury purposes. Most of the time it’s just for a few minutes and the play resumes shortly.

However, sometimes, the animal kingdom decide to get a close view of the cricketing action and we have seen dogs, cats, and other animals coming onto the field and stopping matches, but during the third ODI between West Indies and Sri Lanka, bees became the reason for the stoppage of play.

Asked to bat first in the third ODI, Sri Lanka scored 274 for 6 in the allotted 50 overs as they looked to avoid a whitewash. Ashen Bandara scored his second fifty in as many ODIs, while Wanindu Hasaranga made 80*in just 60 balls with 3 sixes and 7 fours and the duo added 124 runs. Akeal Hossein took three wickets for the West Indies.

Bee Swarm Makes The Players And Umpires Take Cover

In the 38th over of the Sri Lankan innings, the game had to be stopped for a few minutes, as the players and on-field umpires had to take cover on the ground after a swarm of bees hit the field and interrupted the match.

After Anderson Philip bowled the first ball, bees hit the ground and compelled the players as well as the umpires to go to the ground, face down, to avoid any stings. Lying on the ground may seem an odd way to deal with bees but it is widely considered as the best defence against their lethal stings.
