England middle-order batter Harry Brook suffered an injury on Day 2 of the opening Test of the five-match series against India at Headingley in Leeds on Saturday, June 21. Ben Duckett accidentally hit Brook on the back with a throw, forcing him to walk off the field during India’s first innings.
England skipper Ben Stokes opted to bowl first on Day 1, but the move backfired. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul laid a solid foundation. Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill smashed centuries, while Rishabh Pant added a half-century. India scored more than 350 runs for the loss of just 3 wickets.

Harry Brook Returns to Field After Being Struck by Throw
Harry Brook returned to the field shortly after being struck by a throw, smiling and showing no signs of serious injury. The incident came amid a grueling day for England’s fielders, who labored under the sun as India piled on the runs after being asked to bat first by Ben Stokes.
With over 100 overs already bowled and several Indian wickets still intact, the English side faced a long haul. The result of the match will depend on England’s batting response.
Ben Duckett and Harry Brook are expected to play crucial roles if the England national cricket team is to match or surpass India’s imposing first-innings total. With a solid record at home, the experienced English lineup will be under pressure to deliver.
Rishabh Pant Reaches His Seventh Test Century With a Six off Shoaib Bashir
Rishabh Pant resumed Day 2 of the Headingley Test with positive intent. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter started from his overnight score of 65 and displayed a measured blend of caution and aggression, frustrating the English bowlers.
Pant targeted pacer Brydon Carse early in the session, dispatching three boundaries in an over. He reached his century in emphatic fashion, lofting Shoaib Bashir for a one-handed six over mid-wicket.
It was his seventh Test hundred and his second in consecutive matches in England. Pant, known for his fearless approach, celebrated the milestone with his trademark somersault and was warmly congratulated by Shubman Gill.
