Riyan Parag’s outburst at Yashasvi Jaiswal goes viral

It would have been a boundary if Yashasvi Jaiswal had not made timely efforts, but still Riyan Parag was not happy with the RR opener’s efforts as he felt that there was only a single available for KKR batters and hurled abuse at him for his sloppy fielding in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash at the Eden Gardens.

Riyan Parag struggles to match 2024 magic, Yashasvi Jaiswal shines bright for Rajasthan Royals

Meanwhile, Riyan Parag has not been in his best form in the ongoing IPL 2025. Rajasthan Royals’ stand-in captain has so far managed only 282 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 160 and has taken only two wickets. The 2024 season was a breakout for Parag, scoring 573 runs in 16 games.

On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in stunning form with the bat, as the left-handed opener has so far amassed 439 runs in 12 matches with the help of five fifties at an impressive average of around 44 and a strike rate of 154 in the ongoing IPL 2025.

Speaking about the KKR vs RR match, Ajinkya Rahane opted to bat first at Eden Gardens, and Yudhvir Singh stunned Sunil Narine for just 11 runs in the second over of the game. But then Rahmanullah Gurbaz (35) and Ajinkya Rahane’s (30) 56-run partnership steadied the defending champions’ ship.

Rahane then added 42 runs with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who played an impressive knock of 44 runs off 31 balls to set the stage for a big total for the Kolkata side. Later, Andre Russell (57* off 25 balls) and Raghuvanshi’s 61-run partnership took KKR to 206/4 on the board against the Royals.

Rinku Singh also played a quickfire cameo of unbeaten 19 runs in just 6 balls and added 34 runs off just 11 balls with Russell to help the defending champions post a challenging target on the board. For RR, Jofra Archer, Yudhvir Singh, Riyan Parag, and Maheesh Theekshana each got one wicket.

Andre Russell completes 1000 runs at Eden Gardens

During the course of his maiden fifty of this season, Andre Russell became the third player to score 1000+ runs at the Eden Gardens in the IPL. On being asked about him turning 37 recently, Russell said during the innings break, “I think age is just a number, still feeling like 27, happy with the performance tonight. Once we bowl smart tonight and execute our areas, I think it will be enough.”

He signed off by saying, “I was worried when I looked at the scoreboard; I was 2 off 8 deliveries. I never worry about dot balls, but I realized the wicket was gripping; I didn’t want to take risks. The wicket was a bit slow; it was gripping. I enjoy this role; the more overs I have, the more I can make an impact.”
