Mohammed Siraj then got magic spray applied to his knee and was given a painkiller. But even after that, he looked in pain. The physios then put strapping on the right knee. Things look concerning too for the team as it seemed an innocuous injury.

However, in what was a positive development for India, the fast bowler after some treatment was back and started batting as well. He along with Jasprit Bumrah frustrated England bowlers a lot in the end and added some handy runs.

Jasprit Bumrah in particular played like a proper batter and made England bowlers think a lot. He batted aggressively and scored 26 runs before getting trapped in lbw from Mark Wood, who picked four wickets in the first innings of the game.

Jasprit Bumrah along with Mohammed Siraj (3*) added 30 runs together and took India to a big total of 455 runs. Earlier in the day, Ravichandran Ashwin and debutant Dhruv Jurel batted magnificently well and made sure that India went past 400 runs in the first innings.

The duo added 77 runs together. While Jurel ended with the innings of 46 runs, Ashwin managed 37 runs. On Day 1, skipper Rohit Sharma (131) and Ravindra Jadeja (112) slammed blistering centuries. Debutant Sarfaraz Khan also contributed 62 runs.

Mohammed Siraj to play a crucial role for India with ball

The Indian team management would be hoping that the injury that Mohammed Siraj faced while batting doesn’t affect his bowling. The Rajkot surface offers great help to fast bowlers with the new ball and that was evident when England seamers bowled.

Mohammed Siraj will be extremely crucial for the Indian team in the ongoing innings. The fast bowler was rested for the second game and then made a return in the ongoing game. He would be hoping to turn the tables and help his team win the game.

Mohammed Siraj of late had been brilliant in Test cricket. He would be eager to make an impact in the game.
