Sanju Samson who got the axe from ICC T20 World Cup 2022 was seen playing for India A. The wicketkeeper was unbeaten on 29 runs in 32 balls. The hosts won the match by 7 wickets as the match was a one-sided one. The hosts were quite dominating as they never allowed New Zealand to make a comeback in the match.

These kinds of matches are often the stepping stone for players as they get a taste of International Cricket. Sanju Samson would be dejected as once again he was ignored by the selectors. The batter hasn’t got any significant matches under his belt to show his talent which is the main reason his fans are angry over his non-selection.

Mismanagement of Sanju Samson

If the selectors believed that Rishabh Pant will be the first-choice wicket-keeper; then they should have played Sanju Samson as a batter. We all have seen that the right-handed batter can easily smash boundaries with a deft touch. At the same time, he can also be used as a floater.  The case of Sanju Samson is quite confusing and puzzling as the batter hasn’t been given the long rope which Pant had got. It won’t be wrong to say that Sanju Samson is fading now.

The selectors have opted for Deepak Hooda who had a terrible Asia Cup 2022; Sanju could have been more dangerous as he has all the shots in the book. It looks like Sanju has been kept for tours like Ireland, West Indies & Zimbabwe only. We should remember that unless and until he plays against big teams that too regularly; he won’t be able to adjust to that level. The likes of Ishan Kishan is already banging the door for selection where it’s getting more challenging for Sanju day by day.
