Sydney Sixers skipper Moises Henriques had a torrid outing with the bat in the game against the Sydney Thunder in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. In what was a Sydney derby, the game between the two teams took place at the Sydney Showdown Stadium in Sydney on Saturday (21st December).

In the chase of 164 runs, Moises Henriques came to bat at No.4 after the team lost wickets in quick succession. The all-rounder struggled in his innings right from the start as he couldn't get going, looked torrid with the bat, and failed to lead from the front.

Even after he got a second life in his innings, he failed to cash that. However, the catch that was dropped gave flashbacks of the Pakistan-like fielding moment as Sydney Thunder players Tanveer Sangha and keeper-batter Sam Billings came up with a comedy of errors.

Tanveer Sangha bowled a leg-break which was short on leg-stump. Moises Henriques went on the back foot to pull and got top-edge that went straight up, and it seemed that it would be an easy catch, and the Sydney Sixers skipper had to go back.

But as they went up, Sam Billings and Tanveet Sangha ran forward and then, in the end, left it to each other as the ball fell right in between them. The duo then shared a few words as Moises Henriques got another life in the game. Looking at this David Warner was quite angry.

Thankfully, the drop chance didn't cost Sydney Thunder much, as in the next over, Lockie Ferguson removed Moises Henriques. The pacer bowled a knuckleball on a short of a length in the middle, to which batter made room to loft. He ended up hitting high on the bat and looped to extra cover.

Moises Henriques ended with an innings of 17 runs off 22 balls. But after his wicket, Jordan Silk (36*) and Ben Dwarshuis (20*) came up with a massive effort with the bat as Sydney Sixers chased the target with 5 wickets in hand and bagged crucial points in the league.

Ben Dwarshuis, who also picked two wickets with the ball, won the Player of the Match and talked about his innings, saying that he enjoyed batting with Jordan Silk. While elaborating further on his performance, he explained:

"You play the game to be in those moments. Silky and I were like - let's just enjoy this and do our best. That was one of the better ones we've had. Was mishitting them well in the gaps. Nice to get a few out of the middle. Credit to Greeny who bowled a pretty good over, made us wait right to the last ball where he didn't execute perfectly.

"Was just trying to stay really still. Watch and react, and trust my hands to get the job done. No rocket launcher, just a really nice bat. Was just trying to stand still and swing hard. Nice to connect a few."
