Indian fans did not have much to celebrate during the first ODI between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday. For the first time during the pandemic, the spectators were allowed inside the stadium for an international game. The SCG witnessed 50 percent crowd during the first international game of the summer.

Talking about the game, Australia thrashed India by 66 runs in the series-opener to take the lead in the three-match series. Batting first, Australia finished their innings on 374 for 6 after Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first.  Finch led from the front, scoring 114 while Steve Smith scored a 62-ball ton. David Warner and Glenn Maxwell also played fine knocks, scoring 69 and 45 respectively.

In reply, India ended their innings on 308 for 8. The Men in Blue were off to a good start with Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal adding 50 runs in just 4.1 overs. However, they lost four wickets in quick succession to find themselves 101 for 4. Hardik Pandya and Dhawan then steadied the ship and added 128 runs for the fifth wicket before the latter departed for 74.

18 runs later, Pandya departed too after registering his highest ODI score – 90 as India were reduced to 247 for 6. The likes of Navdeep Saini and Ravindra Jadeja then helped the visitors cross the 300-run mark.

David Warner entertains Indian fans:

The Indian fans didn’t get too many chances from their team to celebrate on the field but they definitely got one from Australia star David Warner. While fielding near the boundary, David Warner gave the fans a pleasant surprise by doing some steps of famous Telugu song ‘Butta Bomma’.

It was not the first time David Warner performed the dance steps of the popular track. Earlier this year, he sent the fans wild by dancing on the song along with his wife Candice for a TikTok video. Later, he had performed the same dance number when Sunrisers Hyderabad entered the playoffs by beating Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020.
