Dewald Brevis produced a sensational direct hit to end Aiden Markram’s innings during the ongoing IPL 2026 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (May 10).
Earlier during the Lucknow Super Giants' match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Aiden Markram escaped in a horrible mix-up with the captain Rishabh Pant, but this time, he lost his wicket because of his own mistake against the Chennai Super Kings.
Dewald Brevis produces a bullet direct hit to send Aiden Markram packing in CSK vs LSG IPL 2026 clash
The South African sensation displayed his brilliance on the first ball of the 13th over against the Lucknow Super Giants. Akeal Hosein bowled a full delivery to Akshat Raghuwanshi. The batter flicked the ball towards deep midwicket, where Dewald Brevis was stationed near the boundary.

Akshat and Markram completed a single, but to everyone’s shock, the youngster called for a risky second run even though there was never enough time to complete it. He trusted the call and started running back for the second, and that decision turned into a complete disaster for LSG.
Dewald Brevis’ perfect direct hit leaves Aiden Markram stranded
Brevis has shown his great presence of mind in the deep. The young CSK star quickly collected the ball and, without wasting even a second, fired a rocket throw directly towards the stumps at the bowler’s end. And this time, the throw was absolutely perfect.
The ball crashed straight into the stumps before Markram could even come close to reaching the crease. The South African batter was left well short, as another Proteas star completed the stunning direct hit. Markram had to walk back after scoring just 6 runs from 7 balls.

Notably, Aiden had a remarkable season last year where he scored over 400 runs, because of which he was retained by the LSG for INR 2 crore. But this season turned out miserable for him. He has been struggling to score consistently for LSG this season, where he has amassed only 230+ runs in 11 innings at an average of 25.66 and a strike rate of over 138.
Dewald Brevis pulls off stunning boundary catch to dismiss Mitchell Marsh
Earlier, Dewald Brevis took a stunning catch to help Anshul Kamboj dismiss LSG’s dangerous opener Micthell Marsh cheaply. Kamboj bowled a length delivery that moved slightly towards the stumps. Marsh tried to attack the ball and wanted to smash it straight down the ground.
However, the Australian skipper mistimed his shot, and the ball went high in the air towards the long-on boundary instead of travelling powerfully. Dewald Brevis, who was standing near the boundary, has quickly moved himself under the ball to complete the remarkable catch.
At first, Brevis caught the ball safely, but while trying to control his balance near the boundary rope, he looked like he might step outside the field. To avoid touching the boundary and giving away six runs, Brevis smartly threw the ball up in the air while still inside the field.
Then, the CSK star came back under control and grabbed the ball again on the second attempt to complete a brilliant catch. The smart fielding effort gave CSK a big wicket at an important time as Marsh was dismissed after scoring 10 runs from 10 balls in Chennai.
