Nepal all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee created history during the match against Mongolia in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in China. Dipendra Singh Airee smashed the fastest half-century, surpassing Yuvraj Singh’s record in the shorter format of international cricket.

Dipendra Singh Airee reached his half-century in just nine balls in the opening encounter of the men’s cricket event in Hangzhou on Wednesday, September 27. The right-handed batter helped the team reach their highest-ever T20I total of 314/3 in their 20 overs.

Dipendra Singh Airee Helps Team Reach Mammoth Total

The 23-year-old came to the crease in the No. 5 position when the team’s score was 258/3 in 18.1 overs. The all-rounder started his innings by smashing sixes off five deliveries he faced. He took a double on the next ball before hitting three more sixes to reach fifty.

The Rohit Paudel-led Nepal started steadily, reaching 66-2 in the eighth over. Kushal Malla changed gears and played a remarkable innings, achieving the fastest T20I century in just 34 deliveries, breaking the previous record held by Rohit Sharma and David Miller.

Kushal Malla remained unbeaten with 137 runs off 50 deliveries, including eight boundaries and 12 sixes. The partnership between Dipendra Singh and Kushal Malla added 55 runs in just 11 balls, helping Nepal become the first team to score over 300 runs in a T20I match.

Dipendra Singh Airee Represented Nepal in Asia Cup 203

Dipendra Singh Airee was part of Nepal’s maiden campaign in the recently concluded Asia Cup. The Himalayan team was placed alongside India and Pakistan in Group A. They failed to advance to the next stage as they suffered back-to-back defeats in the tournament.

Dipendra managed to score just three runs against Pakistan in the first match of the six-team tournament. However, he played a quickfire innings of 29 runs against India in their next match. He failed to pick up wickets with the ball, conceding 52 runs in 8 overs.
