Royal Challengers Bangalore Women’s Australia-based all-rounder Ellyse Perry received a special award for the window glass she broke during a clash against UP Warriorz in the 11th match of the league phase. Perry had danced down the track and dispatched Deepti Sharma’s delivery for a six towards the leg-side where the TATA-sponsored car was kept over a podium.

That Ellyse Perry six which shattered the window into pieces, triggered priceless reactions from her teammates as well as the crowd present in RCB’s home ground at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. She was handed a frame of those integrated glass pieces last night by a TATA official after her side confirmed their qualification for the WPL final.

Watch- The Ellyse Perry who broke the window

It was a tempting flight, length, and an ordinary delivery from Warriorz all-rounder Deepti Sharma who did not see Ellyse Perry coming down the track. Deepti could have bowled an outside off delivery but instead, chose to serve it on the platter for her Australian counterpart.

Perry smacked that one towards wide long-on and it must have been at least an 80-85 meter six which sailed over and struck the TATA Punch EV vehicle’s right backdoor window. While her teammates in the dressing room jumped in excitement, leg-spinner Sobhana Asha had her hands over her head in utter shock.

It was one of the best moments that we have had in the 2 seasons of the Women’s Premier League whose finale will be played tomorrow at the Arun Jaitley stadium.

While the crowd was loving it, Ellyse Perry was a little abashed and it was evident through her reaction. She put her right hand over the ravishing golden helmet and also had a shock-type facial expression. That six was a sign of the things to come from her bat later that night where she took over brilliantly after a strong start given by Smriti Mandhana (80 off 50) and Sabbhineni Meghana (28 off 21).

Perry went on to smack a few more sixes and eventually finished with 4 sixes and 4 fours each. She was on an absolute roll that night, scoring 58 off 37 at a strike rate of 156 before Richa Ghosh played her part by scoring 21 off 10 to help RCB post 199 as the target.

In response, UP Warriorz failed to chase down the total as they were restricted to 175 runs after the completion of 20 overs. UP skipper Alyssa Healy scored 55 while Deepti Sharma’s 33 and Poonam Khemnar’s 31 were the other two notable performances.

Ellyse Perry leads the WPL run-scoring charts ahead of the finale against Delhi Capitals Women

Ellyse Perry, who played a very crucial knock of 66 last night in the play-off match against Mumbai Indians Women, is currently leading the run-scoring chart with 312 runs to her name. In 8 games for the Smriti Mandhana-led side, Perry has averaged 62.40, including 2 half-centuries against UP when she broke the window and against Mumbai last night.

Only 4 runs separate her from her former national team captain Meg Lanning who has scored 308 runs in an equal amount of matches. With the ball, the 33-year-old has registered 7 wickets with a 6-wicket haul during RCB’s last league stage match. Ellyse Perry will be in action tomorrow when RCB Women’s take on DC Women’s in the WPL season 2 final at Delhi’s backyard.
