Ellyse Perry has been the shining light for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women in the ongoing game against Mumbai Indians (MI). The eliminator of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 is taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Chasing the target of 136 runs, Mumbai Indians batter Yastika Bhatia kept her team in the hunt. She was trying to settle at the crease and also made sure that her team got off to a decent start with the bat in the big pressure game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Yastika Bhatia was slowly easing into her innings but Ellyse Perry made sure that he did the damage for her team. She produced a peach of a delivery to send the Mumbai Indians opener packing, making sure her team stayed the hunt while defending a low target in the eliminator.
During the last ball of the 8th over, Ellyse Perry bowled an inswinger from round the wicket. Yastika Bhatia moved leg side to play the drive through the leg-side and ended up playing down the wrong line. She completely misjudged the 118.4kph from the RCB all-rounder.
The ball from Ellyse Perry beat the outside edge of Yastika Bhatia’s ball and then crashed into the leg stump. It was a much-needed scalp for the Royal Challengers Bangalore because had the batter stayed there for long, she could’ve taken the game away.
Here’s the video of her dismissal:

Nice to finish with some momentum – Ellyse Perry after her innings
Ellyse Perry with her innings also became the orange cap holder in the WPL 2024. She talked about her innings and admitted that they had a tough outing with the bat. She, however, was optimistic about doing well with the ball. She stated after the first innings:
“It was tough tonight. We sort of grappled our way through our innings. They started well, and put us on the back foot. Nice to finish with some momentum.
Really good opportunity for us to have a solid crack with the ball. Similar conditions to previous days, keeping a bit low. A bit of a cliché but think targeting the stumps will be key,” she concluded.
