Texas Super Kings (TSK) skipper Faf du Plessis showcased exceptional fielding skills in the outfield in the 7th match of the Major League (MLC). Faf du Plessis took a stunning catch to dismiss MI New York’s (MINY) dangerous batter Tim David in a highly anticipated encounter.

The Texas Super Kings won the toss and opted to bat first at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Monday, July 17. The Super Kings posted a total of 154 runs in the allocated 20 overs. The Faf du Plessis-led team secured their second win of the tournament, beating MI New York by 17 runs.

Faf du Plessis Takes a Stunning Catch

The incident took place in the 20th over of MI New York’s innings. Daniel Sams bowled a full slower delivery outside off while defending 21 runs in the final over. Tim David mistimed the shot, and the ball went into no man’s land. Du Plessis ran from long on and dove forward to complete the catch.

The MLC’s official Twitter handle posted the video of Faf du Plessis’s stunning catch. “FAF TAKES A BLINDER! Is that the game?” wrote in the caption.

Daniel Sams conceded just three runs and picked up two wickets in the final over of the innings. The Texas Super Kings moved to the top place in the six-team points table following the victory. They have won four out of two matches and lost one game in the tournament.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Faf du Plessis opened up about his brilliant fielding efforts, admitting that he enjoys fielding.

“That’s me – I like fielding, the same with David Miller we always go to the hotspots and make it happen. [on Bravo] We played a lot of cricket together, we think alike, I always bounce ideas off him. He says he now identifies himself as a 29-year old (smiles),” said Faf du Plessis.

“He (Mohsin) has got a kit of tricks you want against those big hitters, especially the first 6 balls when they are exposing their front pad. I have the confidence in him now to throw him the ball in the 16th over against David,” he added.

Pakistan-born leg spinner Mohammad Mohsin picked up two wickets for 36 runs in four overs. He dismissed Shayan Jahangir and Kieron Pollard in consecutive deliveries in the 14th over. He took seven wickets in three games, becoming the leading wicket-taker in the competition.
