Team India has finally arrived in New Delhi from Barbados after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. After arriving at the Delhi airport, the team went to the ITC Maurya from where they will go to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg.

After meeting the Prime Minister, the team will leave for Mumbai on Thursday afternoon. Afterward, the team will have a victory parade in an open bus which will start at 5 PM from Nariman Point in Mumbai and conclude at the Wankhede Stadium, where the players and the coaching staff will be felicitated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with the prize money.

The team bus which will be carrying the victory parade has been decorated beautifully. The picture of the players, the coaching staff, and the BCCI officials posing with the trophy after the title win has been put on the bus with 'Champions 2024' written on the front.

India register a thrilling win in the final

In the final, India were tested in both the batting and the bowling departments, but the players produced high skill and composure to get out of tough situations. Virat Kohli produced a remarkable knock of 76 off 59 balls when the team needed him the most. Axar Patel and Shivam Dube also made vital contributions with the bat.

In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah and the other quicks stepped up when the spinners had an off day. Bumrah produced a magical spell of 2-18 in four overs while Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets for 20 runs.

India end the drought for an ICC trophy

The win marks an end to a long drought for an ICC trophy for India, which had been ongoing for the last 11 years since India won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni. Since then, the team has been performing exceedingly well in almost every ICC tournament and has been making it to the knockouts quite regularly.

But India had been faltering at crucial moments in the knockout games to bow out of the tournaments on several occasions. But this time, Rohit Sharma and his men kept their composure to bring the trophy back home.

This was India's second T20 World Cup trophy after a gap of 17 years. Before this title, India won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007, when MS Dhoni-led a young Indian side to the title win. Rohit Sharma was also a part of that team.

With this win, India also became the first team to win a T20 World Cup without losing a single game in the tournament. The Men in Blue also became the third team and the first Asian team to win the T20 World Cup twice. Before India, West Indies and England had already won the trophy twice.
