Gautam Gambhir's reign as India's head coach in Tests has started in style. Team India, on Tuesday (October 1), beat Bangladesh by seven wickets to clean sweep the two-match series.

While India were the overwhelming favorites to win the series, the victory over Bangladesh in the second Test has shown that the Rohit Sharma-led side will not shy away from going for a win in any situation. Not many were expecting Team India to win the second Test after rain and a wet outfield did not let any action to take place on the second and third days.

Rain had played spoilsport on the first day too as only 35 overs were bowled. With Bangladesh resuming their first innings on 107/3 on day four, a draw looked like the likeliest of results. However, Team India had other plans.

They bowled out Bangladesh for just 233 runs and went on to smash 285/9 (declared) in just 34.4 overs. While India made their intentions crystal clear with their slam-bang batting, time was not on their side. With a little over a day remaining, a victory looked highly unlikely.

However, the hosts still went for a win and were duly rewarded. They bowled out Bangladesh for just 146 runs in the second innings. Bangladesh's innings was wrapped up inside the first session itself on day five. Set a target of 95 runs, Team India chased down the total in less than 18 overs by losing a couple of wickets.

Gautam Gambhir hugs Virat Kohli:

Gautam Gambhir looked absolutely delighted after India's thumping win. With the team registering a victory against all the odds, the former India opener, who rarely smiles on the cricket field, did not shy away from showing his emotions.

During the celebrations, Gautam Gambhir also shared a heartwarming moment with Virat Kohli. The former India teammates were seen sharing a warm hug to celebrate the victory.

Watch:

Kohli played a key knock in the game. After India lost two early wickets while chasing 95 runs, Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal steadied the ship with a 58-run stand. Jaiswal departed for 51 but Kohli remained till the end to take India home. The former India skipper remained unbeaten on 29.
