Varun Chakravarthy, on the first ball of the 10th over, bowled a carrom ball which Glenn Maxwell didn't pick it at all. The Punjab Kings batter was on the back foot as he was looking to force it through the off-side, but the ball spun in sharply to hit the top of the middle and off and send the batter packing.

Glenn Maxwell's torrid run with the bat in the IPL 2025 continued. The Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder was back in the hut after scoring just 7 runs off 10 balls, slamming just one boundary. He has looked clueless in the league since 2024.

Since the IPL 2024, Glenn Maxwell has amassed just 93 runs in the 14 innings. The batter has an average of just 6.64 to go with 5 ducks. Of the 75 players who have batted at least 10 times in the IPL since 2024, he has the lowest average.

Glenn Maxwell faces backlash from fans

Fans were quite furious with the way Glenn Maxwell got out and demanded an IPL ban on the all-rounder.

I felt good bowling today - Varun Chakravarthy.

Varun Chakravarthy, who returned with the figures of 2/21, talked about his performance, saying that he felt good with his bowling and shared his experience bowling with Sunil Narine. He also opened up about the wicket. Speaking after the first innings, he said:

"I felt good bowling today and it is definitely not a 110 wicket, more of a 180 wicket. Their openers got to a good start, but all credit to Harshit Rana for the way he bowled in the opening spell. I can't be more happier playing with him (Sunil Narine), I am happy that I am in the same side as him.

"I have been working back-of-the-hand leg spin and I tried both (front and back of the hand) today and it came out decently well. When I bowled my 3rd and 4th over, the ball was skidding so much and it is 190 wicket. There is slight dew and as you can see, they (the groundstaff) are trying to remove the dew."
