England wicket-keeper batter Ben Foakes was involved in a hilarious incident on the field during the ongoing India vs England first Test. The first game of the five-match series between the teams is taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

England got bundled out inside two and a half sessions. They were on the field in the third session with Mark Wood opening the attack for them. While the pacer steamed in with the new ball, there was a bizarre incident during his over as well that left many in splits.

On the first ball of the 3rd over, Mark Wood bowled a 150.1 kph inswinger to skipper Rohit Sharma. The batter flicked away the ball to deep square leg to get off the mark. The throw from the deep to the keeper’s end and Ben Foakes initially had no idea where the ball was heading towards.

It wasn’t a good throw from Ollie Pope but as Ben Foakes ran to gather the ball, he didn’t realise he was in the lime with stumps. The England keeper ran into the stumps and ended up uprooting all three stumps in a flash.

Ben Foakes’ crashing into stumps made his English teammates go berserk. The keeper-batter too had a laugh about it before umpires rooted all the stumps back and the play went underway.

Ben Foakes didn’t have a great outing with the bat in the first innings. The keeper-batter scored just 4 runs off 24 balls as Axar Patel removed him. The right-hander looked solid in his defence and it seemed he would stay at the crease for a long. However, he couldn’t tackle the challenge of Axar.

England batters didn’t have a great outing with the bat as they were bundled out for just 246 runs inside 64 overs. Ben Duckett (35) and Zack Crawley (20) got starts but couldn’t carry on after their 55-run opening partnership. Following that, Joe Root (29) and Jonny Bairstow (37) batted well but perished to the spinners.

Skipper Ben Stokes (70) led from the front and played a stellar innings. His vital half-century powered England to a total of 246 runs. For India, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets each whereas Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah bagged two wickets each.

Proper Rugby Tackle On The Stumps – AB de Villiers On Ben Foakes Crashing Into Stumps

Not only Ben Foakes’ English teammates were left in splits after seeing him crash into the stumps, but former South African cricketer AB de Villiers too couldn’t control his laughter. The Proteas cricketer took to his Twitter account and said that it was a proper rugby tackle from the keeper. He said:

“Ben Foakes that was hilarious. Proper Rugby tackle on the stumps.”

India in their second innings have made England taste their own medicine. They have batted aggressively and brought their fifty in inside 7 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been taking the bowlers and slammed his half-century in no time. Skipper Rohit Sharma on the other took his time but perished after scoring 24 runs.
