A shocking incident involving the star SRH wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan took place during the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Ishan Kishan walked back to the dugout without edging the delivery and even without the Mumbai Indians (MI) players appealing for the dismissal at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Massive drama during the SRH vs MI clash

The incident happened in the third over of the innings when Deepak Chahar was bowling and Ishan Kishan was batting along with Abhishek Sharma.

On the first ball of the over, Deepak Chahar bowled a tame length delivery to Ishan Kishan that angled down the leg side. The keeper, Ryan Rickelton, collected and was about to just go through with business.

The on-field umpire partially raised his hands to signal a wide, and players from the Mumbai Indians didn't appeal for caught behind. However, Ishan Kishan shockingly started walking back as he thought there was an edge.

The umpire looked confused for a while, and after a polite enquiry for a catch from Deepak Chahar, the umpire raised his finger to declare the batter out.

MI players came in running to appreciate Kishan for his decision. However, the UltraEdge replay confirmed that Kishan didn't edge the ball, and he walked back without any reason for 4-ball 1.

There's some illness in the team - Heinrich Klaasen

Speaking ahead of the match, Ishan Kishan's teammate Heinrich Klaasen revealed that there have been some illnesses in the SRH camp. He said:

"Yeah, chilling. That's basically it. There's some illness in the team. Just trying to stay low and just get ready for the next couple of games. I think it's all about execution with the way we want to play. We want to play nice and aggressive style and that requires a lot of execution. The moment you don't execute, you find yourselves in some trouble. So, we are just looking to execute and that's the best we can do with this brand of cricket that we want to play."

Heinrich Klaasen further talked about how the SRH batters prepare themselves for the matches and urged them to assess the conditions before firing. He said:

"I think it's doing a lot of homework against certain bowlers but also having a feel of the wicket. Not every wicket you can go as hard as you want to go. But there is a way to do it on different wickets. Assess the conditions and go from there. Sometimes, you just have to fish against guys and find a way to get through it.

"They bowled extremely well the other day. We missed out on a couple of opportunities that may have put them under pressure. The batting unit has some work to do. It's a good wicket. We are used to this wicket and we love playing on this wicket. So, hopefully, today we can execute our skills and put their bowlers under little bit of pressure."
