Veteran English pacer James Anderson claimed a catch to dismiss Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin in the ongoing third Test between the two teams. James Anderson nearly dropped the catch before securing it off the bowling of young spinner Rehan Ahmed.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first in the third Test of the series at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The home team ended the opening day’s play with 326 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets in the first innings.
However, India lost the overnight batters Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav early in the first session on the second day. Kuldeep Yadav scored just four runs before being dismissed by James Anderson. Ravindra Jadeja added no runs to his overnight score.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Dhruv Jurel steadied the innings without losing further wickets before the lunch break. Ashwin and Jurel added a crucial 77-run stand for the eighth wicket. However, Rehan Ahmed managed to break the stand after the lunch break on Day 2.

The incident took place in the 120th over of India’s first innings in the ongoing Test match in Rajkot. Ravichandran Ashwin attempted to show aggression in the second session by going over mid-on in Rehan Ahmed’s bowling. However, Ashwin couldn’t get enough elevation.

Ashwin chipped the ball to Anderson, who managed to hold on after an initial fumble. Anderson almost missed the catch but managed to secure it on the second attempt. The 37-year-old batter had to depart after scoring 37 runs, including six fours, to India’s total.

Earlier on the opening day, Rohit Sharma scored his 11th Test hundred in India’s first innings. The Indian skipper rescued the team from challenging situations at 33/3. He added a crucial 204-run partnership with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth wicket.
The 36-year-old batter scored 131 runs off 196 deliveries, with the help of 14 boundaries and three sixes. Jadeja also scored a hundred, helping the Indian team to reach a competitive total. young batter Sarfaraz Ahmed scored his maiden half-century in his debut match.

The home team suffered a disappointing 28-run defeat in the series opener in Hyderabad, despite taking a 190-run lead in the first innings. However, Team India bounced back to secure a 106-run victory in the Visakhapatnam match to level the five-match series.
