Shubman Gill plays a slow knock against the Mumbai Indians
Gill played quite an uncharacteristic knock in the match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) as he was trying to take the game deep and save his wicket with the rain around in Mumbai.
Shubman Gill started off quite slow, and he was unable to accelerate throughout his stay in the middle. After the rain break, Shubman Gill and Sherfane Rutherford were in the middle, and GT needed 49 runs in 36 balls to win the match.
GT team management would have expected Gill to remain unbeaten and finish off the match, but he was unable to do that because he had to face the modern-day great Jasprit Bumrah just after the break.
After tackling the first few balls very well, Shubman Gill finally lost the battle against Jasprit Bumrah on the fifth ball of the 15th over.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled a 141.7kph good length ball on off-stump to Gill that nipped back sharply, and the batter was rooted to the crease while trying to work it across but was beaten for pace, and the ball deflected off his back leg and crashed into the stumps.
Shubman Gill was dismissed for 43 runs off 46 balls, with three fours and one six, and he batted with a strike rate of 93.47. With Gill's dismissal, it became the first instance of the top three of GT falling for under 50 in the same match this season.
Although Shubman Gill played a poor knock, he created history with it by becoming the third captain after Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer to score 500+ runs in an IPL season aged under 26.

Guys have tried to adapt something for the ball to do something - Trent Boult
Speaking ahead of the match in a video shared on IPL's website, Trent Boult said that the Mumbai Indians have tried their best to adapt to whatever conditions they get. He elaborated:
"It's always a learning curve. I have spoke about it to you before about expecting the unexpected. Different roles of bowling at different times. It's always exciting. Team is traveling well and looking forward to this game.
"Maybe a little bit more reverse and little bit less conventional. Don't know what it comes down to. I think the wickets have been solid. Guys have tried to adapt something for the ball to do something. It's the main kind of point. It's another good wicket and it's a high-scoring ground. So, hopefully, it will reverse at some stage.
"It's always a challenge. Top order has been doing a phenomenal job for them. They are playing some good cricket and they have got good bowlers as well. It's a reason why they are at the higher end of the table. Home venue for us and we have played good cricket here. Looking to continue it."
