Jasprit Bumrah clean bowled the dangerous Phil Salt with a slower delivery to put India in the driver's seat against England in the semifinal of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Chasing 172 runs, England made a decent start with Jos Buttler and Phil Salt adding 26 runs in three overs. Axar Patel gave India the much-needed early breakthrough by dismissing the in-form England captain on the very first ball of his spell. Buttler went for a reverse sweep and ended up miscuing the shot before Rishabh Pant took an easy catch behind the stumps.

And in the very next over, Jasprit Bumrah put India on the front foot by dismissing Phil Salt with a beauty. He completely deceived the England opener with a slower delivery. It was an off-cutter on the off-stump from Jasprit Bumrah and Salt went for a big shot. However, he was a bit early into the shot as he could not pick the slower ball and the ball went on to crash into the stumps.

Watch as Jasprit Bumrah castles Phil Salt:

Talking about the game, England were on 46 for 4 in the 8th over at the time of writing this report. After the departure of both the openers, Axar Patel dismissed Jonny Bairstow in the sixth over. Later in the 8th over, Axar struck again to dismiss Moeen Ali as well to put India in a commanding position in the game.

Earlier in the game, India finished their innings on 171 for 7 after being asked to bat first. India lost the wickets of Virat Kohli (9) and Rishabh Pant (4) cheaply inside the powerplay before Rohit Sharma (57) and Suryakumar Yadav (47) steadied the ship with a 73-run stand.

The likes of Hardik Pandya (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (17*) then came up with useful cameos to ensure India posted a good total. For England, Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 37. The winner of the ongoing game will be facing South Africa in the final on Saturday (June 29).
