In a thrilling clash between the TKR and the Barbados Royals, Jess Jonassen was not making headlines for her brilliant bowling but for bringing Bollywood glamour to WCPL 2024 with an iconic Shah Rukh Khan pose in Trinidad.

The unforgettable moment unfolded during the 15th over of the Barbados Royals' innings in Trinidad. With the match hanging in the balance, Jess Jonassen claimed the crucial wicket of Aaliyah Alleyne with a delivery that showcased her skill and precision. However, it wasn’t her bowling that stole the show.

As Jess Jonassen celebrated her wicket, the 31-year-old cricketer spread her arms wide in a filmy style, mimicking the iconic pose of Shah Rukh.

Jess Jonassen's celebration quickly went viral, with fans sharing clips and drawing amusing parallels between Jonassen’s playful gesture and Shah Rukh Khan’s signature pose. TKR vs BR Match Highlights

Speaking about the WCPL 2024 match, the Barbados Royals opted to bowl first after winning the toss, and their disciplined bowling performance restricted the TKR to a modest score of 113/9 in their 20 overs. Hayley Matthews and Amanda Wellington delivered a tight spell that kept the TKR batters under constant pressure in the match.

Despite valuable knocks from Deandra Dottin (28 runs off 26 balls) and Shikha Pandey (30 runs off 34 balls), the TKR struggled to gain momentum against the Barbados Royals. Even Zaida James added a brisk 22 off 18 balls towards the end, but it was enough for the team to post a good touchdown on the board against the Royals.

Notably, Chinelle Henry, Matthews, and Wellington each claimed two wickets, with Wellington particularly outstanding, giving away only 14 runs in her four-over spell. In reply, the Barbados Royals women made light work of the target, reaching 116/3 in just 17.1 overs.

Matthews played a key role in the chase, scoring a match-winning 67 off 56 balls with 12 boundaries. However, Chamari Athapaththu fell early for 5, but solid contributions from Qiana Joseph (16 off 19) and Laura Harris (14 off 7) ensured a successful and smooth run chase for the Royals.

Despite a spirited bowling effort from TKR’s Jonassen, who took 2 wickets for 21 runs, they could not prevent the Royals from cruising to a massive victory. Matthews’ all-round performance, including her impactful 67 runs and two crucial wickets, earned her the Player of the Match award.
