Both Sharma and Shepherd are likely to play a big role for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025. Both of them are likely to bat in the middle and lower order and are likely to bat towards the back end of the innings.
RCB will rely on these finishers to take them to a formidable total or towards victory during a chase. Other than these finishers, they also have Tim David who can make a big impression in the death overs.
"You know I'm a big buy" - Romario Shepherd
While speaking on his power, Romario Shepherd agreed that he has the strength that makes him so unique from the others. He further credited his heavy bat for his ability to hit the balls outside the ropes despite a mis-hit.
"I've the attacking nature. I've the strength, so I guess I am in the Rhino in the team. I am taking everything head on," the RCB allrounder said.
"Yeah, it's a bit heavier (when asked about his bat weight) than the other guys in the team. But you know I'm a big buy, so I need a bit of weight. So, whenever I mishit, maybe they can still go over the ropes," he added.
Shepherd will be a key player for RCB not only with the bat but also with the ball. The all-rounder is a quality bowler, especially with the new ball, which makes him such a useful T20 cricketer.
Will Romario Shepherd fire this season?
Shepherd was signed by RCB for INR 1.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 and returned with 57 runs from six matches at an incredible strike rate of 271.43.
Overall, he has scored 115 runs in 10 matches at an average of 23 and a strike rate of 182.54. Shepherd has also picked up 4 wickets overall at an average of 64.25. He hasn't played all the games of an IPL season so far but can break that trend now.
At the high-scoring M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Shepherd can be highly dangerous for the opposition bowling attacks once he comes to the crease. The short boundaries in the stadium will also work in his favor.
