The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad is overjoyed after making it to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final clash for the first time in nine years. During the team’s birthday celebrations, Jitesh Sharma refused to put cake on Virat Kohli’s face, and the video quickly went viral on social media.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru last reached the IPL final match in 2016, when Virat Kohli scored 973 runs. However, the Bengaluru-based team lost the final to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Kohli is focused on helping RCB break their title drought, as he has been in impressive form this season.
Watch: RCB Host Celebration for Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik
RCB hosted a joint birthday party for skipper Rajat Patidar and batting coach Dinesh Karthik on June 1. The team shared a video showing Patidar and Karthik cutting cakes, which quickly turned chaotic when Jitesh Sharma playfully smashed cake on Patidar’s face.
Karthik soon became a target too, followed by others. Even senior player Virat Kohli joined in, smashing cake on team analyst Freddie Wilde, turning the event into a fun celebration.
"𝗔𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁! 😂🎂 DK and Rajat’s birthday celebrations started sweet, but ended in a cake crime scene. 🤣," wrote RCB in the caption.

Jitesh Sharma Refuses to Smear Cake on Virat Kohli’s Face
During the birthday celebration, Jitesh Sharma ended up getting cake smeared on his face as well. When teammate Liam Livingstone jokingly asked Jitesh to put cake on Virat Kohli’s face, Jitesh declined with a folded-hands gesture and a shy smile.
This lighthearted moment quickly went viral across social media. The event offered the team a much-needed chance to relax, bond, and enjoy themselves ahead of the high-pressure IPL final. Jitesh’s refusal to cake Kohli became the evening’s most memorable moment.
The Rajat Patidar-led team will next take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3. It’s worth mentioning that RCB defeated the Shreyas Iyer-led team in the Qualifier 1 clash.
All Eyes on Virat Kohli Ahead of IPL 2025 Final Clash
Virat Kohli is set to take the field in the IPL 2025 final, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru prepare to secure their first-ever title. Neither team has lifted the trophy in the previous 17 editions.
Kohli has been instrumental in RCB’s journey to the final. The star batter has amassed 614 runs in 14 matches at an impressive average of 55.81 and a strike rate of 146.53. He has hit eight half-centuries, all contributing to RCB’s victories.
All eyes will be on Kohli to deliver another match-defining performance. A strong start from the top-order batter could set the tone for RCB, who are counting on their senior-most player to end their long wait for an IPL title.
