Zimbabwe batter Johnathan Campbell was run-out even before opening his account in the ongoing first T20I against India as the visitors put themselves in the driver's seat at the Harare Sports Club.

Campbell walked out to bat in the 12th over with his team reeling at 74 for 4. On the fifth ball of the over, Avesh Khan had dismissed Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza. The onus was on Dion Myers and Campbell to steady the ship for the home side.

However, Campbell was run out on the very first ball he faced due to a bizarre mix-up. Both the batters ended up at the striker's end as Campbell had to depart for a duck. The Zimbabwe batter played Avesh's delivery towards the off-side and Myers started running from the non-striker's end.

Campbell also showed some interest as he took a couple of steps before changing his mind. By then, Myers was well outside of his crease and decided to continue running as both the batters ended up at the same end. In the meantime, Washington Sundar fielded the ball and threw it to Avesh who had all the time in the world to take the bails off at the non-striker's end.

Watch Johnathan Campbell's bizarre run-out:

Talking about the game, Zimbabwe were reeling at 89/7 in the 15th over at the time of writing this report. Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first in the series opener at the Harare Sports Club. India were off to a good start with the ball as Mukesh Kumar struck on his very first delivery to send back Innocent Kaia for a duck.

Brian Bennett then started positively and raced away to 23 runs in quick time thanks to 5 fours before being dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in the sixth over. Bennett's dismissal opened the floodgates as Zimbabwe kept losing wickets at regular intervals after that.

Wessly Madhevere was the next to go with Bishnoi dismissing him for 21 to leave Zimbabwe reeling at 51 for 3. A 23-run stand between captain Sikandar Raza (17) and Dion Myers (23) stopped the rot but things went downhill once again after Avesh Khan sent back the former.
