Khaleel Ahmed destroys Shreyas Iyer's stumps

The left-arm pacer Khaleel had a poor start in the match as he was taken to the cleaners by the young PBKS opener Priyansh Arya in the first over, giving away 17 runs.

He started his second over with a dot before Shreyas Iyer dispatched him for a beautiful six followed by a double on the next delivery.

Khaleel Ahmed then bowled a full-length ball on off-stump on the 4th ball of the over to Iyer, who played without much foot movement, tried to flick it across, and the ball sent his off-stump cartwheeling as there was a huge gap between the bat and pad. After picking the wicket, Khaleel gave an aggressive send-off to Iyer.

Iyer walked back to the hut after scoring 9 runs off 7 balls, with one six. Overall, the right-handed batter has scored just 33 runs in 7 innings against Khaleel Ahmed in the history of the Indian Premier League while being dismissed 3 times.

CSK restrict PBKS to 219/6; Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja fail

The Chennai Super Kings bowling unit restricted the Punjab Kings to 219/6. However, the veteran spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin once again failed to shine. Ashwin bagged two wickets but ended up leaking 48 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja gave away 18 runs in 3 overs but didn't pick any wickets.

Speaking on ESPNCricinfo about Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the match, the former CSK star Ambati Rayudu said that the duo have not got off to a slow start. He elaborated:

"I mean, I wouldn't say it's a slow start as such. You know, that's maybe Ashwin. Maybe he's not been as good as what we have seen him to be previously in the tournament. So, last game was better than what he did in the previous game. So, they're getting better. So, this is one opportunity that they have going into a new ground where the conditions are quite good for CSK to play at.

"They will enjoy the conditions at Mullanpur and especially with Noor coming in, he's taking more of the impetus of picking those wickets. So, even the batsmen have started going after Ashwin and Jadeja to compensate for Noor. So, that's something that they should be mindful of.

"And bowling, I don't think is much of a concern to be very honest. As Sanjay bhai said, batting definitely needs to click. And I think a little bit of the batting order change and also the kind of intent that needs to be shown and the kind of freedom that they have to bat with has to slightly get better, I feel."
