The Major League Cricket 2025 Challenger match between MI New York and Texas Super Kings took a dramatic turn during the 8th over when Kieron Pollard gave a fiery warning to Faf du Plessis at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Friday, July 11.
The heated incident unfolded in the 8th over of Texas Super Kings’ innings when Marcus Stoinis was facing Kieron Pollard and Faf du Plessis was at the non-striker’s end in the Challenger clash with MI New York in Dallas. Pollard was just about to bowl when he suddenly stopped mid-run-up.

Just as Pollard, who is known for his fierce on-field persona and no-nonsense approach to the game, was about to deliver the ball, his eyes caught that the Texas Super Kings skipper had left the crease a bit too early. The MI New York all-rounder didn’t look happy at all.

Faf was found too far from his crease, almost stepping alongside the bowler, possibly to steal an extra inch in the high-stakes encounter, and Kieron Pollard abruptly pulled out of his action. He turned and stared down Faf with a sharp glare and a serious expression, clearly showing his displeasure.
Kieron Pollard even said a few words to the Texas Super Kings captain, adding extra heat to an already intense match in Dallas on Friday. However, Faf acknowledged the warning silently, but Pollard’s message was loud and clear.

MI New York makes incredible comeback to storm into Major League Cricket 2025 Final
Meanwhile, MI New York has pulled off a stunning turnaround in the Major League Cricket 2025 season. At one point, it looked like their journey was over, as they had lost six of their seven games in the tournament, but then things changed dramatically.
They won two back-to-back matches and managed to enter the MCL 2025 playoffs despite losing their final league game, thanks to a better Net Run Rate. Now, MI New York will face Washington Freedom in the MCL 2025 Final on July 13 in Dallas.
In the Challenger match against Texas Super Kings, MI New York bowled really well to keep the opposition to just 166 runs. Faf du Plessis and Akeal Hosein both struck brilliant fifties for TSK, while Tristan Luss was the standout bowler for MINY with impressive figures of 3/35 in 4 overs.
Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard's firepower seal MLC 2025 Final spot for MI New York
Chasing the paltry target on a slower deck, the MI New York had a clear plan, and that was to not attack too soon and save wickets. Monank Patel (49 runs off 39 balls) batted with a cool head. He protected the captain, Nicholas Pooran (52* off 36 balls), from facing too much of Noor Ahmad’s tricky spin early on.
Pooran had a few tough moments but handled them calmly. Monank made use of his chances and played some attacking shots when needed. During the successful chase, they never looked nervous or rushed. And once Pooran and Kieron Pollard got going, it was clear TSK were in trouble.
TSK also dropped a few catches, which made things worse. But by then, the game was already slipping away. Pooran and Pollard (47* off 22 balls) stayed unbeaten and finished the chase with ease, thrashing TSK by seven wickets with six balls to spare to storm into the finals.
